MediaTek saw its February revenues fall to a 12-month low of NT$14.16 billion (US$458.2 million).

MesiaTek's consolidated revenues for February 2019 represented a 12.8% sequential decrease but a 11.4% increase on year. The company's consolidated sales totaled NT$30.4 billion for the first two months of 2019, rising 2.9% from a year ago.

MediaTek is expected to see its March revenues rebound to sequential growth, with its first-quarter results coming within the guidance set of between NT$48.7 billion and NT$53.5 billion.

MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai commented previously that the worldwide smartphone market growth will remain slow until 5G-compatible devices become commercially available. MediaTek is stepping up the development of its 5G-enabled solutions, said Tsai, adding that the company expects to introduce its 5G SoC series at the end of 2019 following the launch of its 5G modem chip in the first half of the year.

MediaTek will also roll out new chip solutions for non-mobile devices for further product mix improvement. The company set its target gross margin this year at 40%.
