MediaTek saw its consolidated revenues grow 14.6% sequentially in December, but revenues for all of 2018 slipped 0.1% on year to NT$238.06 billion (US$7.73 billion).

MediaTek announced revenues of NT$21.39 billion for December 2018, up 14.6% on month and 14.7% from a year ago. Revenues totaled NT$60.89 billion for the fourth quarter, down 9.2% on quarter and meeting the company's guidance range of NT$59 billion to NT$64.3 billion.

Continued weak demand for Android smartphones, as well as seasonality, will drag down MediaTek's revenues in the first quarter of 2019, according to market watchers. MediaTek's mobile SoC shipments will likely fall below 80 million units in the current first quarter, down from about 100 million units in the fourth quarter of 2018. The company is expected to post an over 15% revenue decline sequentially in the first quarter, said the watchers.
