MediaTek has reiterated its sales guidance for the fourth quarter of 2018 indicating revenues for December are set to bounce back to the NT$20 billion (US$649.4 million) level.

MediaTek saw its November revenues drop to a nine-month low of NT$18.67 billion. The company's fourth-quarter revenues are estimated at between NT$59 billion and NT$64.3 billion representing a 4-12% sequential decrease.

MediaTek will enter volume production of new-generation Helio P mobile SoCs later in the fourth quarter, while chip orders have started ramping up for the Lunar New Year holiday, according to market watchers. The company will see its revenues rebound substantially in December.

However, MediaTek will still encounter an overall slowdown in the global smartphone market during the first half of 2019, the watchers indicated. The company will have to promote its high-ASP solutions to offset its decelerating shipments growth.

MediaTek reportedly will roll out its new Helio P90-series chip that will join the company's recently-announced Helio P80 series to vie for orders for AI-capable smartphones targeting the upper midrange segment. Both solutions are manufactured using TSMC's 12nm process technology.
