Xiaomi has announced that it is expected to hit a milestone of shipping over 100 million smartphones during the January-October period of 2018, surpassing the total amount shipped a year earlier.

Xiaomi shipped 92.4 million smartphones in 2017, an increase of 74.5% from the previous year, according to data compiled by IDC.

Xiaomi announced its upbeat forecast at a product event held on October 25 during which the company revealed its latest high-end model, the Mi Mix 3.

The Mi Mix 3 features a 6.4-inch OLED display with a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4% and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU packed with 6GB RAM/128GB ROM, 8GB RAM/128 or 256GB ROM, and 10GB RAM/512GB ROM.

The Mi Mix 3 will be available on November 1 in China, starting at CNY3,299 (US$475) for a model with 6GB RAM/128GB ROM. A "Forbidden City Palace Museum" special edition with 10GB RAM/256GB ROM is priced at CNY4,999.
