Notebook ODM Compal Electronics has reported consolidated revenues of NT$89.11 billion for June, up 12.28% on month and 7.87% on year with shipments of PCs coming to 4.2 million units. Meanwhile, Inventec has reported its June consolidated revenues reached NT$44.91 billion, up 2.94% on month and 7.18% on year and PC shipments arived at 1.7 million units.

Compal's combined consolidated revenues for the first half of 2018 arrived at NT$433.98 billion, growing 8.17% on year. Compal shipped a total of 10.3 million PCs in the second quarter and expects the volume to grow by a single-digit percentage sequentially in the third quarter.

Inventec saw its combined consolidated revenues for the first six months of 2018 rise 9.88% on year to come to NT$231.71 billion.

Inventec pointed out that both of its notebook and server shipments performed better than expected in the second quarter. For the third quarter, the company's notebook shipments will continue to increase, but with limited growth. The ODM also expects a single-digit percentage sequential increase in its third-quarter consolidated revenues.

Some market watchers noted that Inventec's server shipment growth in the second quarter was primarily contributed by China-based datacenter clients' orders, but the growth driver for the second half of the year will be US-based server brands and datacenter clients.

Both Compal and Inventec saw notebook shipment growths in the second quarter driven by enterprise clients' orders.
