Nova technology has started recognizing revenues generated from equipment orders placed by China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) and Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMIC) in the second quarter of 2018, according to industry sources.

Nova supplies fab tool services for wafer fabs and LCD plants, and has enjoyed a pull-in of orders from China's semiconductor and LCD panel industries.

Orders from China-based panel maker CSOT and IC foundry SMIC already boosted Nova's April revenues, which hiked 600% from a year ago to NT$518 million (US$17.3 million), the sources indicated. Orders from China's semiconductor industry alone have already accounted for 66% of Nova's total orders on hand, the sources added.

Nova has responded saying the adoption of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) 15 beginning January 2018 could result in significant changes in revenues compared to the same period in 2017. Nova also noted the orders it has secured thus far this year have been about 25% higher than a year ago.

Nova disclosed its cumulative 2018 revenues through April surged 87% on year to NT$1.8 billion.

Nova is a subsidiary of Acter specializing in services of water, gas and chemical process systems. Acter, which makes engineering equipment for cleanroom facilities, has also enjoyed robust orders from China's semiconductor and LCD panel industries.

Acter has announced consolidated revenues of about NT$1.2 billion for April 2018, up 19.2% on year. Revenues for the first four months of 2018 came to NT$4.23 billion, rising 12.8% from a year earlier.
