Memory-IC backend specialist Powertech Technology (PTI) has announced consolidated revenues of NT$5.65 billion (US$193.5 million) for March 2018, up 16% sequentially and 32.4% on year, and hitting a record high.

PTI's revenues totaled NT$15.91 billion for the first quarter of 2018, rising 25.7% from a year earlier.

A pull-in of short lead-time orders for mobile DRAM chips, as well as favorable DRAM market conditions overall, led to PTI's positive revenue results for March, according to market watchers. The backend firm is expected to post sequential revenue growth through the fourth quarter of 2018, the watchers said.

PTI's revenues for 2017 climbed to an annual record of NT$59.63 billion.

PTI disclosed previously plans to expand production capacity for NAND flash memory by more than 20% in 2018.

PTI also provides high-end packaging technologies for logic ICs. PTI is looking to double its flip-chip packaging production capacity in 2018. The company's fan-out packaging business, in which it has invested NT$3 billion, is also ready for volume production later this year.
