While keeping its fourth-quarter revenues guidance at NT$59.2-64.3 billion, MediaTek has raised its forecast EPS for the quarter to NT$5.66-7.01, up from the previous NT$2.18-2.67.

Consequently, EPS for all of 2017 is now projected to reach NT$14.72-16.07 compared to NT$11.24-11.73 forecast previously.

Meanwhile, MediaTek has announced that it has become a SoC partner for Google's newly released Android Oreo Go, with its SoCs, including MT6739, MT6737 and MT6580 to fully support the new platform.

This marks one of the first times that entry-level SoCs are ready to be used shortly after the latest version of Android - in this case Android 8.1 Oreo - has been released to the Android Open Source Project, the companies claimed.

MediaTek is partnering with Google to tackle the performance challenges of lower memory phones, improving the user experience of entry-level smartphones for consumers in key markets across India, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and South East Asia, according to TL Lee, general manager of MediaTek's wireless communication business unit.

Android Oreo Go-based smartphones powered by MediaTek's SoCs will be available globally in the first quarter of 2018.
