Shipments in the tablet market have now fallen for twelve quarters straight, reports IDC. While smartphones grew in Q3, tablets fell by 5.4% year-over-year. They were down to 40 million global shipments from 42.3 million. That includes regular tablets and detachables.

Double-digit declines were more common in 2016, so a marginally positive spin could be given to these numbers. Apple, Samsung, and Amazon were the top three companies in the sector, just as they have been. They accounted for 66.7% of the market, up from 57.2% in 2016.
