Online retailers in China have already started offering discounts on the iPhone 8 reportedly due to lower than projected sales. These discounts were highlighted in an article from the South China Morning Post. In some cases the device is being offered for 1,100 yuan ($165) less.

JD.com has implemented a discount greater than 10% for all models that originally cost more than 5,000 yuan. Suning Appliance, China's top electrical appliance retailer, is both lowering the iPhone 8's price and offering extra discounts if people place a 100 yuan deposit on a higher-capacity unit.

Multiple reports indicate the iPhone 8 isn't selling especially well around the world, likely due to the impending iPhone X release along with other market and device factors.
