At its event in the new Steve Jobs Theater at Apple's new "Spaceship" campus in Cupertino, Apple has finally unveiled the much anticipated 2017 iPhones. After announcing Apple Watch Series 3, the Cupertino company has unveiled two new smartphones - iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

The two new models have almost identical design compared to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, but Apple claims the design is all new with rear glass panel and waterproof resistance. Thanks to glass panel, both models support Qi wireless charging and third-party wireless charging will work with iPhone 8. They have the same display size, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch, but new Retina HD display with True Tone technology for better color accuracy.

As expected, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are powered by the new Apple A11 Bionic chipset. The chipset features a six-core processor with two high-power Monsoon cores and four-low power Mistral cores. The biggest improvement with this chip is that all cores can run at the same time where the A10 Fusion can only run one cluster at a time. The chipset also includes Apple-designed GPU that is 30% faster than last-gen GPU, while the CPU is 70% faster in multi-threaded apps.

When talking about cameras, Apple claims new models come with all-new 12 MP sensors that have faster autofocus in low light, pixel processing for sharpness and texture, and multi-band noise reduction. The cameras are also able to record 4K videos at 60fps and 1080p at 240fps.

Last, but not least is the pricing. Apple iPhone 8 with 64 GB of storage starts at $699, while the Plus model starts at $799. Both models will be available for pre-order on September 15 and launch on September 22.
