TCL, the Chinese company now responsible for making BlackBerry smartphones, is reportedly going to bring back the Palm handset brand in 2018. Android Planet says the company is working on Palm products, though it's not known how many handsets will be released.

It acquired the brand in 2014 and so far hasn't used it for anything. Palm was, in the pre-iPhone period, a fairly important brand. It controlled a notable portion of the market with its early smartphones and PDAs.

Stefan Streit, TCL's marketing manager, discussed the company's plans with Android Planet. According to Streit, TCL plans to target consumers who liked the old Palm device style, suggesting the products won't be direct modern smartphone competitors.
