If you have been reading anything about HTC, then you are aware that the company is in really bad situation in the last few months. Although the HTC U11 has been a success, the company can't seem to get back on track and is now looking into other strategic options that could range from separating its virtual-reality business to a full sale of the company.

According to DigiTimes, HTC has now fallen to the fifth position in last month's smartphone vendor rankings in its home country of Taiwan. The company that overtook it is Oppo, which is looking better and better.

HTC isn't the only company that is having problems. ASUS is also having financial problems as its shares had hit a seven-year low this spring. The company has already done some reconstruction and reduced its device shipment expectations by 25 percent.
