Last few months have been very good for Huawei as the company is slowly becoming very serious when it comes to smartphones. It is obvious that Samsung is the world's largest smartphone maker, but since 2011, Apple has been right alongside Samsung, while the third spot has been changing.

However, it looks like Huawei is slowly achieving what they want and might overtake Apple in the third quarter of 2017 to become second largest smartphone maker according to Taiwanese publication DigiTimes.

The report says that Huawei's smartphones have continued to gain momentum and if they ship over 40 million units, they could overtake the Cupertino company.
