We can say that Samsung lost a round against TSMC with 10nm process, but it looks like the company did a good job by investing in 7nm. A new report claims that Samsung has secured a deal to resume making A-series processors for Apple in 2018.

This is the first time since 2013 that Samsung will be making chips for Apple, but TSMC will still be there and the two companies are expected to share orders as with the iPhone 6s.

Samsung already has extreme UV machines necessary for 7nm process and is currently completing its initial tests of the new chip-making machines. Once Apple approves the process, they will start producing the A12 chipset.
