Qualcomm and Samsung have been pretty close and although latter was expected to be a partner for Qualcomm's future SoCs built on the 7nm, latest reports suggest otherwise. Reports originating from Korea state that Qualcomm has decided to drop Samsung and go with a new partner, the popular TSMC.

The exact reason why Qualcomm decided to go with TSMC is unknown, but Qualcomm reportedly already confirmed that it has been designing and developing its next generation 7nm Snapdragon Application Processor by using chip development tools distributed by TSMC. This also means that Samsung lost two big partners, after Apple also went to TSMC.
