The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei claims it has overtaken Apple to become the second largest global smartphone vendor during one month last year. The company reportedly achieved 13.2 percent of global smartphone sales compared to Apple's 12 percent for the last month of 2016.

This was confirmed earlier this week by Huawei's India Director of Product Centre Allen Wang, who said that Huawei "Overtook Apple in global sales volume share in December." He also added that Huawei has shipped 139 million smartphones last year and that Huawei has surpassed Samsung in some markets.
