As a part of its effort to cut costs and make profit after it acquired its main competitor the Franco-American Alcatel-Lucent back in 2016, the Finish telecommunications company Nokia has just announced another round of layoffs. After 960 people lost their jobs in Finland, the company has now confirmed its plans to cut 170 more positions.

Some reports mention it is possible that up to 15,000 people out of a combined Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent staff could lose their job, which is more than 14 percent of the company's global workforce. By cutting jobs and alongside other changes, Nokia hopes to save €900 million ($1 billion) by 2018.
