MediaTek has reported consolidated revenues of NT$18.44 billion (US$612.5 million) for May 2017, up 3.9% sequentially but down 25.2% on year.

Judging from MediaTek's sales guidance for the second quarter, market watchers expect the company to see its June revenues register another sequential growth to between NT$19.9 billion and NT$24.4 billion.

MediaTek's revenues should have hit their bottom for 2017, the watchers said. The company's revenues for the third quarter of 2017 are expected to increase about 20% sequentially driven by a pick-up in demand from China-based smartphone vendors, as well as growing shipments of its Helio P25 series chips, according to the watchers.

MediaTek expects to post revenues of between NT$56.1 billion and NT$60.6 billion in the second quarter of 2017, which will represent an up to 8% sequential increase. Gross margin for the quarter will be better than the prior quarter's level thanks to a more favorable product mix, the company said previously.

MediaTek's cumulative 2017 revenues through May totaled NT$92.27 billion, down 10.9% on year.
