24.7 million wearables were shipped around the world during the first quarter of 2017, representing a 17.9% year-on-year growth. The market has seen a further shift towards dominance from Apple and Xiaomi, which surpassed Fitbit's shipments during the quarter.

Fitbit had been the biggest wearable maker in prior quarters.

According to IDC's report on the industry, the five largest companies in the market each shipped at least 1 million units. That includes Xiaomi (3.6 million), Apple (3.6 million), Fitbit (3.0 million), Samsung (1.4 million), and Garmin (1.1 million.)
