Taiwan-based Powertech Technology (PTI), which has struck a deal with Micron Technology to take up the US vendor's stake in Japan-based wafer testing specialist Tera Probe, has announced the acquisition has completed.

In April 2017, PTI disclosed plans to launch a tender offer to buy more Tera Probe shares from Micron as well as other shareholders for JPY1,100 (US$10.13) each, off the open market between April 17 and May 29.

PTI said it successfully acquired Micron's 39.6% stake in Tera Probe, as well as another 8.24 stake from other shareholders. increasing PTI's original stake of 11.6% to 59.44%.

PTI added it will start recognizing part of the revenues from Tera Probe in June.

PTI in April also struck a deal with Micron to fully acquire Micron Akita, Micron's assembly and test plant in Japan. PTI will strive to become Japan's largest backend house following its acquisition of Micron Akita and majority stake in Tera Probe, company chairman and CEO DK Tsai was quoted in previous reports.

PTI expects to start recognizing revenues from Micron Akita between July and August.
