At first, the Windows 10 Mobile platform looked like it could compete with Android and iOS, but many things have changed since its launch and now, we can say that the platform is pretty much dead. The Windows 10 Mobile development is in maintenance mode and Microsoft doesn't look like it is ready to make some drastic, but necessary changes to the platform.
However, that doesn't mean that Microsoft is not interested in the mobile segment. According to Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella, the company has not given up on its smartphone business yet and will be releasing more phones in the future. He added that these new phones "may not look like phones that are there today."
Right there could be a hint at the long rumoured Surface Phone, which could be a device that would transform from a phone into a laptop or PC. One thing is sure, Microsoft will need to do a lot of work, both hardware and software related, if it wants to have a successful device. |
