Gigabit LTE support will be absent from the iPhone 8, reports CNET. The relatively uncommon feature has shown up in the Galaxy S8 thanks to the Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 chips, but it won't be found in Apple's next top-tier handset.
Apple is reportedly going to use processors from Intel and Qualcomm in the iPhone 8. Since the Intel chip won't support Gigabit LTE speeds, Apple will throttle Qualcomm's chip performance, making the device less future-proof than the Galaxy S8.
Only some carriers have rolled out Gigabit LTE in certain markets, but it'll continue to expand, thereby providing better wireless speeds to devices that support it. |
