Huawei sold 5 million units of its Mate 9 smartphone during the first four months after its November 2016 release. The device is considered a strong high-end handset, offering a dual-lens Leica camera, a large display, and a nice design.

It costs $750 in the US, making it one of the more expensive smartphones on the market. It's been able to compete against other flagships from Android phone makers like Samsung.

Huawei revealed the sales figure during a press conference in China. The Mate 9 is performing 36% better than the Mate 8.
