King Yuan Electronics (KYEC) has obtained orders from Ramtron International, a supplier of non-volatile ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM), according to the chip assembly and test service provider. The new contract further supports KYEC's efforts to diversify its customer portfolio.
KYEC said it has been selected by Ramtron to expand assembly and test capacity for the company's entire line of FRAM products. Orders will be fulfilled starting the third quarter of 2011.
In addition, KYEC revealed that currently, about 25% of its revenues come from orders placed by IDM companies. The proportion is set to top 30% in 2011, KYEC said.
KYEC also anticipates that it will see more than 50% of company revenues generated by shipments to non-Taiwan clients in 2011. The Taiwan-based IC backend testing and assembly firm used to depend on MediaTek and other domestic IC designers for revenue growth.
In addition, KYEC previously said its revenues in the second half of 2011 would rebound following a weak second quarter. The revenue ratio between the first and second halves of the year is estimated at 40:60.
KYEC registered NT$911 million (US$32 million) in April revenues, down 6.6% on month. Revenues for the first four months of 2011 decreased 14.6% from a year earlier to NT$3.89 billion. |
