IC packager Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) has reported consolidated revenues of NT$7.44 billion (US$236.2 million) for October 2016, up 5.3% on year and 3.2% sequentially.

SPIL's cumulative 2016 revenues through October totaled NT$70.37 billion, rising 1.8% from a year ago.

SPIL posted revenues of NT$21.96 billion in the third quarter of 2016, a record high. Net profits for the quarter slid 4.2% sequentially, however, due to appreciation of the NT dollar.

SPIL recently disclosed its board of directors had approved an upward revision in 2016 capex to NT$17.9 billion from NT$16.7 billion. The additonal capex will be used mainly to expand production capacity for high-end packaging technologies, the company said.
