Shipments of smartphones in the Taiwan market totaled 663,000 units in August, an increase of 44,000 units or 7% from the previous month, according to data compiled by local retail channels.
Samsung Electronics ranked as the top smartphone vendor in the local market both in terms of sales volume and sales value. But affected by the battery issue of its Galaxy Note 7 and the launch of the iPhone 7 devices, it remains to be seen whether Samsung will be able to retain its title in September, according to sources from the retail channels.
Asustek Computer took the second position in terms of sales volume, followed by HTC, Apple, Sony Mobile Communications and Oppo. In terms of sales value, Apple ranked the second, followed by Sony, HTC, Asustek and Oppo.
The top-10 best-selling models in August were Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy J7 (2016), iPhone 6S 64GB, ZenFone 3 ZE552KL, iPhone 6S Plus 64GB, HTC Desire 728 dual sim, Galaxy J7, ZenFone 3 ZE520KL 32GB, Galaxy J5 and Oppo F1. |
