Samsung Austin Semiconductor, Samsung Electronics' only wafer fabrication plant located outside Korea, has announced plans to hire 300 engineers and technicians in the first half of 2011. The planned workforce expansion is part of its US$3.6 billion expansion.
"In 2010, we hired more than 600 employees as part of the current expansion, bringing total employment to approximately 1,700," said Charmaine Winters, senior human resources manager at Samsung Austin Semiconductor. "We are delighted to continue this positive hiring trend in 2011."
Samsung's semiconductor division (memory and system LSI) registered KRW10.11 trillion (US$9.3 billion) in operating profits on revenues of KRW37.64 trillion in 2010. The company's total operating profits and sales for the year hit all-time highs of KRW17.3 trillion and KRW154.63 trillion, respectively. |
