Micron Technology has transfered a portion of its stake in Inotera Memories to Numonyx, which it acquired in 2010, according to industry sources. Total shares released are estimated at 70 million units.
Inotera has responded saying that the share transfer is for Micron's internal purposes, and should not cause any impact on the existing collaboration between it and Micron.
In addition, Inotera revealed that it mainly sources silicon wafers from Formosa Sumco Technology (FST), and therefore does not anticipate any supply chain disruptions caused by Japan's recent disaster. The company is set to convert the majority of its wafer starts to 42nm process technology by the middle of 2011, and is preparing to migrate production to the 30nm node.
Inotera is a DRAM-manufacturing joint venture between Micron and Taiwan's Nanya Technology.
