Windows 10 is running on 21% of desktop computers, up from 19.1% in June. That increase is greater than what was seen in recent months, which could be connected to users taking advantage of the free upgrade offer. NetMarketShare reports Windows 7 remained in the lead with a 47% share and Windows XP was in third place with 10.1%. Windows as a whole was responsible for 89.7% of traffic.

Now that consumers generally must spend $119+ to upgrade to Windows 10, growth may decline.

Apple's share of the desktop market was down in July, falling from 8.1% to 7.8%.
