HTC has reported consolidated revenues of NT$2.771 billion (US$94.77 million) for March, up 6.1% on month but down 46.7% on year.

HTC also saw its revenues for the first quarter of 2018 decline 44.1% on quarter and 39.5% on year to NT$8.79 billion, the company's lowest quarterly revenues in 16 years.

The first-quarter revenues accounted for a mere 6.5% of the company's historical high quarterly revenues of NT$135.8 billion recorded in the third quarter of 2011.

Market observers attributed the record-low revenues to the absence of new flagship smartphone models and the company's shift to focus on VR devices which have not yet generated revenues in meaningful amounts.

HTC is expected to see its revenues rebound to over NT$10 billion in the second quarter of 2018 as the company is likely to launch its new flagship model, the HTC U12+, in the quarter, said the sources.

The U12+ reportedly will feature a 6-inch QHD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU, dual main camera (12- and 16-mepapixel setup), and packed with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of ROM, while supporting HTC Face Unlock technology.
